How is a float valve tower purged before commissioning a new unit?
Generally, for cleaning floating valve towers, we prefer manual removal of various debris such as gloves and welding rods left over from construction. These are cleaned together during the hydrostatic testing of the tower, by pouring clean water into it – this process is carried out in 3 stages: the first time, water is poured to fill one-third of the tower; after 24 hours, another third is filled; after 48 hours, more water is poured until it emerges from the top of the tower. After 72 hours, the water is then drained The tower can be cleaned! It is important to note that if there is significant settlement of the foundation or tilting of the tower, stop pouring immediately! Open the vent valve at the top of the tower when releasing water to prevent the tower from collapsing!
