Hello everyone. We are from a coking plant, and the sulfur foam after desulfurization goes directly into the sulfur melting tank. The operation of this tank is unstable and it tends to get clogged; therefore, we want to add an additional filtering stage before the sulfur melting tank. Some people say that a plate and frame filter press would be suitable, while others suggest a vacuum drum filter. In my opinion, there is an issue related to the processing capacity; if the daily processing volume is below 20 cubic meters, then plate and frame filters should be considered. The reason why the current systems do not perform well is mainly due to improper selection of filter fabrics and inadequate on-site management. For large processing volumes, consider a vacuum filter, as it offers a higher degree of automation. However, extra attention needs to be paid to the filter cloth and the separation mechanism, and the quality of the liquid after filtration must also be considered; if it is too turbid, it should not be returned to the system. After all, the vacuum level is limited. In most nitrogen fertilizer industries, I recommend using plate and frame filters. The operation intensity is not high, ensuring the quality of the clear liquid. It’s good for the system.
