There is a vertical gas tank with a DN3200 diameter and a height of 10 meters. The user wants to install two manholes; what do you think are suitable locations for these manholes? I think it’s sufficient to create a manhole at the lower part of the container side ; If you want to open two, the other one can be placed on the upper part of the container’s side or on the top; it doesn’t really matter anyway. Share your insights! Thank you!
For the design of inspection holes, refer to Article 45 of the Specification for Acceptance Criteria, HG 20583-1998: Manholes, Handholes, and Inspection Holes
HG20583-1998 specifies that the size, quantity, and placement of manholes should facilitate operation and ease of entry and exit by personnel; these aspects are related to the location of equipment platforms, ladders, etc., and are generally determined based on the requirements outlined in the process specifications
It’s 10 meters long; it’s best to have two manholes for easier operation and access.
I also think two should be installed: one as the poster suggested, in the lower part, and the other one can be determined based on the location of the platform.
Reference can be made to the provisions in HG20583-1998; the size, quantity, and location of manholes are related to the location of equipment platforms, ladders, etc., and are generally proposed by the process engineering team
That’s right; as long as the location is convenient, the internal ladder should lead to the top, so that inspectors can enter and check the corrosion in various areas.
Two manholes should be provided, one located at the bottom of the equipment cylinder and the other on the upper cover of the equipment, so that inspectors can enter to check the corrosion condition of various parts.
For a 10-meter-high device, there should be more than one platform; it is most appropriate to install manholes near the entrance to the platforms
Since it is a gas storage tank, the setting should be based on the location of the outlet or safety valve (if it is used as a maintenance access, due to the presence of a platform there). If there is no internal ladder, then the other one should not be installed on the cylinder, as it would also make it inconvenient to enter and exit. Put it on the top seal; use it as an air vent or a light opening.
