The electrode rods of the electric contact level gauges used in the steam drums of our factory tend to break very easily; I’m not sure if there are any durable alternatives available. The pressure designed for the steam drums is 4.2 Mpa
Our plant uses three capacitive level gauges for remote monitoring of boiler levels; they can handle pressures of 3.8 MPA, and there have been no problems with them ever. Last winter, when using water to pressurize the boiler, the process wasn’t completed within a day; I didn’t pay attention that night, and by the next day all three level gauges had turned into huge ice blocks. I quickly removed them and used cold water to thaw them slowly. After testing, they were not damaged at all, and now they are working properly. :lol
