Recently, while reviewing a process package, I suddenly noticed that the size of the pipe connections on its equipment seemed to be one size class larger than what the theoretical calculations suggested. I’m not sure why ? I would appreciate some guidance from those who know more.

It might be due to different flow rates used in the calculations; the flow rate used in the process package calculations is lower. After calculations are done during the construction drawing design phase, it may be determined that there is no need to change it, but it’s best not to make any changes, as any issues that arise as a result of such changes would be difficult to address.

If the size of the device’s outlet is one size class higher than what is calculated theoretically, it indicates that some of the data used were not exactly the same. Do not change the process package ; If the size of a certain equipment port is significantly different from what you calculated, you can communicate with the process package provider to determine who made the error in the calculations, and then discuss whether to make any changes. Do not alter the process package without permission.
You can discuss your results with the process package provider to see if there are any special operating conditions, etc. If there are no major issues, it is recommended to use the dimensions provided by the process package.
