After some time of observation, it was found that many posts had certain issues; the authors of many posts disappeared after posting them, leaving the posts unfinished. I have previously given suggestions to netizens on how to post messages, but they were not comprehensive. Here, I summarize them specifically for everyone’s discussion and further input: 1. How to post messages. Since the members who come to this environmental protection forum come from various professional fields, they may not be familiar with issues that cross disciplines. Moreover, many people do not have the time or are unwilling to spend time clicking through each post to read its details. If the questions are clearly stated in the topic, netizens can easily see the posts that are relevant to their expertise or interests, which facilitates problem-solving. The following suggestions are made for this purpose: 1. Indicate in the title whether the post belongs to the category of “request for help, discussion, sharing, or original content”. 2. Briefly state the issue in the title, indicating what process/equipment/field it relates to and what the focus of the problem is. Don’t try to attract attention; don’t be obsequious. 3. Try to explain the issue clearly in the main body of the post; if confidentiality is a concern, relevant information can be replaced with ** without affecting communication, otherwise it’s better not to post it. 4. When posting, please check for any spelling mistakes or missing words, as these may prevent other members from properly understanding the question you have raised. II. How to keep track: Many netizens post questions on forums when they have them, and then check back later if they remember. The discussions are lively, but the person who posted the question remains silent, which somewhat dampens everyone’s enthusiasm for participating in the discussions. Here, we would like to ask those who post to keep the following points in mind: 1. Posters should adopt a positive attitude and actively participate in the discussions, sharing their opinions and views in a timely manner; perhaps your small suggestions can inspire others, which in turn can help you solve problems. 2. Based on everyone’s discussions, continuously provide the necessary supplementary information. 3. When opinions vary among those discussing the topic and there are clear differences in understanding, the person who posted the question should provide clarification promptly. Since they have the most comprehensive understanding of the issue, they are the most qualified to speak on it. They should take into account the opinions expressed by all parties and gradually draw conclusions; this process of drawing conclusions is actually a process of analysis, digestion, and absorption by the person who posted the question, and it is an essential step for improvement. III. How to post a reply 1. If, through everyone’s discussion along with one’s own understanding and reflection, the poster has obtained a satisfactory answer, they should post the final result. Since everyone also aims to improve through the discussion process, please provide others with an opportunity to learn, so that we can all progress together. 2. Express gratitude to the netizens who participated in the discussion (whether they provided substantial help or not), as this is basic courtesy. 3. Make the appropriate changes to the category in the title (e.g., change “Seeking help” to “Solved”). I wrote this post with no intention of discouraging people from posting. If what I’ve said can provide some help regarding how to post online, then that will fulfill its purpose. The original post was taken from a thread by ECHOMMM in the English section, with slight modifications.
Strongly agree! This is also a form of technical proficiency; it’s easy to do – it just depends on whether you do it or not. Rate the help received from others, provide a summary once the solution is found, and share it with everyone. You’ve done it; you’ve taken responsibility, and you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the problems, leading to greater personal improvement.
The worst part is that some people post a request for help in a thread as soon as they register, and then disappear forever. Such posts can be banned after half a year from the registration date. Having the questioner summarize the answers from all respondents is indeed a difficult task to come up with an opinion on; as far as I can recall, I haven’t seen it happen even once so far. The wishes of the moderators and all members are good, but implementing them is quite difficult. It’s a rather long transformation, or one that may not be achievable. It would be great if everyone who posts a request for help could actively engage with the responders.
I have some objections. I was following the LZ’s advice, actively supporting the development of the forum by handling posts promptly – posting, tracking, and closing them – yet the posts were still closed by the forum moderator. Some friends wanted to reply but were unable to do so; for example, some people asked me how I resolved the issue, but I couldn’t answer them.
Replying to the person above: Generally, for questions posted in threads, the moderators may close them once they feel the issue has been resolved. Of course, if you still want to see the content of that thread, you can contact the moderators; I’m sure they will resolve the issue promptly. Thank you for your support of the forum! ! !
