Insights from job hunting: Don’t engage in a battle without preparation

More and more college graduates are graduating each year, making it increasingly difficult to find employment. The global financial crisis that began last year caused many proud college students to change their previous views on employment, deciding to \"find a job first and then choose a career.\" Employment has become the hurdle that college students are eager to overcome. 　　Before looking for a job, I reached out to some alumni to ask them for information on job hunting and interview skills, and then prepared a resume in both Chinese and English that reflected my own characteristics. I also learned about information such as recruitment plans of various companies through my parents and friends. On the one hand, I submit my resume online and look for positions that suit me ； On the other hand, I often go to job fairs to submit my resume. 　　On my own computer, I created a folder for submitting resumes. Named after the position and date, my resume is not identical for all positions; instead, it is adjusted accordingly to meet the specific requirements of each role. If I’m interested in position A at Company A, I will look for information online regarding the requirements for that position, incorporate and modify that information, and add it to my resume to enrich its content. In this way, it can meet the different requirements of various units ； Secondly, if a company calls me, I won’t be confused at first and forget when I submitted my resume, thus avoiding such awkward situations that could lead to missing out on good opportunities. 　　The job fair was always crowded with people. Although I was aware that the employment situation wasn’t optimistic, I still made choices when submitting my resumes – I opted for positions that interested me the most. I’ve heard that many students, due to applying blindly, hesitate when the employer invites them for an interview. This not only wastes their own and the employer’s time but also takes away other people’s opportunities to find jobs, which is not advisable. 　　Later, on the teacher’s recommendation, I got an interview opportunity at a company related to my field of study. Because I valued this opportunity so much, I was quite nervous before the interview, but I managed to overcome that nervousness through thorough preparation. I’ll think out the “self-introduction” first. Next, I searched the Internet for other people’s reviews of the company, such as any news about it in the media and its impact, etc. Then log in to the company’s official website to find out what positions it is currently hiring for, and to learn as much as possible about the company. After that, I prepared the clothes I would wear on the day of the interview to ensure I appeared proper and presentable. The interview went quite smoothly, and my confident answers earned me many points. As a result, on my way home from the interview, I received a call from the company informing me to report for duty, and thus my internship began. 　　Faced with the tough employment situation, graduates must first adopt a positive attitude; they should not wait or rely on others, but take proactive action to shape their own future. Secondly, during the job search process, one should be clear about their own position and plans to avoid acting blindly. Once again, thorough preparation for job hunting is essential; every detail must be carefully considered to ensure a targeted approach, so as to stand out during interviews.
