I would like to ask fellow sailors: when starting up a 15WT Lurgi-type methanol synthesis tower, if the bed temperature is raised from room temperature to 190 degrees Celsius, how many tons of 16-kilogram steam are generally required for the steam injector? How many tons of steam are needed approximately to raise the temperature there?
This cannot be controlled; it depends on factors such as ambient temperature, steam temperature, and the insulation of the synthesis tower, so there is no fixed value. Personal opinion!
16 kilograms of saturated steam is only at 200 degrees; how can you raise the temperature of the synthesis tower to 190 degrees? Let’s talk about increasing the steam pressure instead
We use medium-pressure steam with a weight of 34 kilograms here.
Using 16 kilograms of steam to raise the temperature obviously requires more, while we use 3.9 kilograms.
We use steam at 52 kilograms and 400 degrees
It doesn’t seem like steam is the main factor; it depends on the design specifications of the equipment, which specify a limit on the rate of temperature increase – generally not more than 10 degrees per hour, though sometimes it’s limited to 20 degrees as well. Steam is just a means to achieve this goal. In our case, we use 25 kilograms of steam, with a temperature increase of 8 degrees per hour; it takes about 20 hours to complete the process
