Recently, a customer reported that the MH value of one of our company’s products is low. I would appreciate it if you could explain to me the relationship between these two factors, in as much detail as possible; any relevant information would be helpful. Thank you
There are many ways to improve MH: 1. Selecting the appropriate type of carbon black; 2. The amount of carbon black used; 3. Using rubber compounds with high strength; 4. Increasing the amounts of accelerators and sulfur used appropriately. However, the adjustment of the dosage must be done in moderation; otherwise, it will have a significant impact on the Mooney value, scorch time, and vulcanization rate.
I hope my friends from Sichuan will not hesitate to share their insights; I would be extremely grateful. I’m not sure if this is correct, but ML stands for viscosity, so it is related to the 300% elongation of carbon black. As for MH, I don’t know
MH refers to the maximum torque, and it is closely related to the amount of reinforcing agent used as well as the vulcanization system. If we consider only the relationship with the structure of carbon black, that is, when the amount of carbon black used remains constant and all other conditions are the same, then carbon black with better reinforcing properties contributes more to MH; in other words, carbon black with smaller particles, a larger specific surface area, and a higher degree of structure results in a higher MH value.
