Please share the control temperatures for the first and second cooling stages in your respective factories. The values most commonly mentioned are around 60 degrees for the first cooling stage and around 40 degrees for the second cooling stage. But I found that the factories vary quite a bit; in some, the temperature differences are quite large. I don’t think it’s simply a matter of whether the catalyst is suitable for the early or later stages. Let’s share our opinions.
The secondary cooling temperature is below forty degrees, usually under thirty degrees
The secondary cooling temperature is less than 35 degrees, usually around 25 degrees.
I think it must also be related to the load and processing capacity; with a load of 110%, the temperature in the second cooling stage is kept around 38 degrees
It’s probably determined by the load as well as the usage of the catalyst in the previous process. In our case, the temperature in the first cooling stage is around 60 degrees, while it’s around 40 degrees in the second cooling stage. However, this applies to the early stages of catalyst use; later on, the temperature is generally lower than before, mainly due to some changes in the composition of the crude methanol. The light components increase.
In addition to the load, it should also be related to the quality of the finished product, as whether light components are removed depends on the product quality
We keep the temperature at 69 degrees when it’s cold. The secondary cooling temperature is around 45 degrees. The main focus is on controlling product quality; the condensate after the second cooling stage is sent to the reflux tank, where the gas can be cooled further to around 35 degrees, while the condensate is sent to the fusel oil tank.
