I have legitimate proof to undertake this quest; I am a celestial general of noble origin, with proper authorization to carry out this mission. Before being demoted to the mortal world, I was Marshal Tianpeng, in charge of the hundred-thousand naval forces of the heavenly palace – what a glorious position that was! To this day, I still miss those wonderful days. Although Junior Brother Sha is a general in charge of the curtains, he is after all only responsible for the Jade Emperor’s inner palace; he can’t compare to someone with an authentic background like me ; My master is Jinchanzi, the great disciple of Buddha – his noble status goes without saying. But that is merely a title within Buddhism; he doesn’t even have any formal qualifications. Outside the Buddhist community, no one recognizes him, and even if some do, it’s only out of respect for Buddha, so it doesn’t really count ; The most detestable one is that mischievous monkey; it appeared out of some crack in a rock, with no parents and no sense of discipline at all. It caused chaos in the Heavenly Palace, making things impossible to manage in peace. So assigning it the task of fetching the sacred scriptures was merely a way to keep it occupied. A punishment of five hundred years was sufficient; any longer and people would start spreading rumors about the Heavenly Palace. Thus, assigning it that task was just a temporary solution. Once the quest is completed and it is brought under Buddhist rule, the Buddha will be able to keep it in check, thus reducing the Jade Emperor’s worries. Even if that mischievous monkey causes trouble again, the Jade Emperor can turn to the Buddha to hold it accountable... Don’t think I can’t see the Jade Emperor’s little plans; in fact, every wise immortal is aware of them, it’s just that no one speaks about them. The core of communication within the group: During the process of learning from others, I served as the key person for exchanging tasks across the entire group. The master knows nothing; he can’t catch even a single demon or monster. But since he was chosen as the quester by his superiors, no one raised any objections to him being in charge ; That Sun Wukong spends his whole day catching demons and monsters; he never cares about his master’s food, clothing, or comfort. He always thinks that others can reach the West just by not eating anything, like he does – but that’s impossible ; And then there’s my little junior brother – he spends his whole day just carrying loads and herding horses; he can’t help with anything else. I call him \"the silly junior brother\" in secret. Of the entire team, I am the only one who can communicate with the leader, Tang Seng; I can make use of that monkey (since there are some things I cannot do on my own, and a good leader knows how to utilize the resources at his disposal); and I can also communicate with Sha Wujing. Among the four of us on this quest, who is better at this skill than me? Can a team survive without communication? So my communication function is undeniable. Being able to share the leader’s concerns – within the entire team, I play the most important role in times of crisis. Every time Sun Wukong faced difficulties, it was I who stepped forward. It was either me who prayed to the Bodhisattvas and Buddha to bring those old guys here, or I who took Brother Sha with me to fight those monsters to the death. Or else, every time our master was taken away, I would accompany him personally, sharing his hardships... Has that monkey ever done any of that? Can Sha Wujing bring reinforcements, take the initiative to fight against the demons, and share hardships? When is it most useful to be a subordinate? It is those comrades who are able to share their leader’s worries at critical moments that are the most useful. That monkey was indeed quite useful, but it didn’t know how to behave in front of its leader. It would attack anything that looked like a monster, showed no respect for its leader, and was full of arrogance. As a result, the master never liked it, which caused tension between the two of them. The master always wanted to get rid of that monkey, yet when faced with a crisis, he missed it again. The reason for this was that the monkey didn’t know how to share the burdens on its leader’s shoulders at the most critical moments. I give my all with wholehearted dedication; I am fully committed to the quest for the scriptures. I gave everything I had; I even gave up Miss Gao, the beautiful woman from Gao Laozhuang. Then who among the four members of the quest team sacrificed their family businesses for their mission? It’s understandable that in times of crisis I sometimes want to give up, as the three of them have no responsibilities or commitments. With no way to retreat, one has no choice but to fight in the water. What about me? I think having persisted to the end is a huge victory for me; one shouldn’t always compare themselves to the best, but rather strive to improve by keeping learning. Well, after reading my confession above, do you realize that Pigsy has his own way of handling things, dealing with situations, and being a person? ! They say I’m greedy, lazy, unwilling to make an effort, and lustful – I admit all these things. No one is perfect; who can be without faults, let alone a pig? If I didn’t have these minor flaws, then I wouldn’t have a name at all, and the entire \"Journey to the West\" would never have been created. So readers should not focus only on my shortcomings and ignore my strengths; it is precisely for this reason that a beautiful jade stone with imperfections is often more precious. What, you say my confession was an attempt to seize power and gain a good reputation for myself? I certainly can’t agree to that. I just want to fulfill my role as a key member of my own questing group; I don’t want anyone to be deceived by that Sun Wukong from \"Journey to the West.\" I have no intention of seeking attention for myself. Besides, now that I’ve become a great Buddha, would I still care about such trivial matters? Haha! (Source: Chinese Businessmen)
