I am currently working on my graduation project, and I’m not quite sure about the steps involved in designing fire protection systems for oil depots. I would appreciate some guidance from those who are more experienced. It would be best to have design specifications and drawings for oil depot fire protection! Thank you all!

1. Scope of design: Fire water supply and foam fire extinguishing system design for the tank area and associated facilities. 2 Fire water volume and fire pump room § Fire water volume 2.1 Design principles The fire water volume is calculated as the sum of the water required to cool a single oil tank with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters in case of a fire, the water needed to cool three adjacent tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters, and the water required for foam production in the event of a fire involving a single tank with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters. 2.2 Design parameters: Cooling water supply rate – 2.5 L/min·m2 for the tank on fire, and 2.0 L/min·m2 for adjacent tanks. Cooling water supply duration: 6.0 hours. Foam mixture supply duration: 30 minutes. 2.3 Calculation results: Based on calculations, the maximum amount of fire-fighting cooling water required for a single fire is 206 L/s, while the maximum amount of foam mixture required is 156 L/s; the total amount of foam used is 9.1 m3. 2. 4 Pump Room: A new fire pump room will be constructed within the tank area; this room will house 3 fire pumps (two in use and one as a backup), with a flow rate of 400 m3/h and a head of 45 m ; 2 foam fire pumps (one in use and one as backup), with a flow rate of 570 m3/h and a head of 80 m ; One set of pressure stabilization device, with an operating pressure of 0.36 MPa ; Two sets of balanced-pressure foam proportioning mixers with a flow rate of 570 m3/h, and one foam liquid storage tank with a capacity of 10 m3. The fire control system is located in the fire control room of the pump house. .3 Fire protection system 3.1 Fire water supply A DN350 fire water ring pipeline is installed around the newly constructed tank area, with 30 above-ground fire hydrants installed on this pipeline. The 20,000 cubic meter oil tank is equipped with water curtain nozzles, which spray water for cooling in the event of a fire. 3. 2 Foam fire extinguishing: A ring-shaped pipeline for foam fire extinguishing fluid with a diameter of DN300 is installed around the tank area; during a fire, foam is delivered to the oil tanks to extinguish the fire. Each storage tank is equipped with 6 PC24 air foam generators and 6 PQ4 foam nozzles.
