Questions regarding applying to become a registered chemical engineer

I graduated in 2003 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and Technology. Since then, I have been working on the research and development of chemical products. I started paying attention to the exam for Certified Chemical Engineers in 2005, but now I have a few questions: 1. Can people like us, who work in the chemical industry but are not in design-related fields, take this exam? 2. If it’s possible to take the exam, how should we handle registration once we obtain the certificate? I assume there are many people with similar questions; I hope someone experienced can answer them, rather than just posting documents issued by authorities.
Applying directly won’t work; another shortcut needs to be found.
Ah, thankfully I didn’t buy the textbooks. Our factory deals in chemical products, and we certainly don’t have the qualifications for that. Forget it.
