To be used before and after slag discharge; the timing for turning it on and off varies among different manufacturers
The slag pool is divided into two parts: one serves as a clear water tank, and the other as a slag removal tank. Before discharging slag again, turn it off first, and then proceed with the discharge to prevent the slag from reaching the other side of the clear water tank along with the water. Open it a few minutes after slag discharge to allow the water to flow toward the clear water tank. These two valves are generally interlocked with the lockhopper and belong to the category of valves that operate in response to the actions of the lockhopper. Open it 5 minutes after slag discharge to transfer the water from the slag skimming tank to the clean water tank. Close the valve before discharging slag from the lock hopper.
The operation of the slag skimmer is carried out in accordance with process requirements, under the control of the DCS in the central control room; The general process is as follows: 30 seconds before the discharge starts when the lock hopper (V-1403) is opened, the slag skimmer is activated and put into operation. After the material conveying system has been running for 20 minutes, the upper water release valve is opened. When the amount of material conveyed on the conveyor downstream of the slag skimmer is less than 1.8 t/h, the slag skimmer stops operating; at the same time, the lower water release valve is opened. When the water level gauge installed in the water storage tank (not included in the scope of supply) reaches the lower limit, both the upper and lower water release valves are closed simultaneously. Wait for the next work cycle.
Are there any reference materials available regarding the design of slag ponds? Since there is also a discharge valve inside the slag tank, is this discharge valve purchased separately along with the equipment?
This is usually included with the slag skimmer. The copy valve is opened and closed periodically within the lock hopper procedure.
It was my first time dealing with this thing; it seems simple on the surface, but it turned out to be quite complex. Not only does it have a stirrer, but the slag tank itself also has two butterfly valves. I wonder if anyone has any reference images or materials on this topic; I’d like to learn it properly*.
I would also like to ask everyone: are the installation heights of the two valves inside the sludge tank the same? Additionally, what is the main function of the sludge pool mixer? Does it help to settle the sludge at the bottom after mixing?
