During the VCM distillation process in our facility, no C2H2 was detected at the outlet of the lower column; however, its concentration in the upper column could reach around 30PPM. Even after the product condenser and the reflux tank of the upper column were emptied for a long time, the C2H2 level remained high. What could be the reason? I have a question: This is not possible during normal production; there might be residues in the pipelines from the previous shutdown. If it’s during normal operation, the accuracy of the analysis must be taken into account! Suggestions
Agree with the person above; once? Has it been maintained for some time? Is it all operated by a machine and a person?

There is a balance pipe between the monomer tank and the finished product cooling section; could it be that the ethylene oxide in the monomer tank is returning to the finished product cooling section? As the original poster said, it’s impossible for this to happen in the high and low towers, but the presence of peaks in the chromatographic analysis indicates that there is still a problem. Is this affecting the polymerization process?
Thank you to all the forum members; we have identified the cause. It was a leak in the valve of the discharge pipe in our coarse and fine dryers, which allowed gases to mix with each other
