How often should the filters at the bottom of the coking fractionation tower be cleaned, and how many filters are usually installed?
A filter is sufficient for the bottom circulation of the coking distillation tower; another one is available at the pump inlet. It is also possible to use a bypass line for cleaning the filters, or to shut down the bottom circulation system for a short period of time. How often should the filter be cleaned? The layperson is right; there’s no fixed frequency for cleaning. It mainly depends on the pressure difference before and after, that is, the resistance of the filter. If the operation isn’t done properly, the filter can get clogged just with one cleaning cycle.
In typical designs, a filter is installed at the outlet at the bottom of the tower, and another filter is placed in front of each pump. As for the cleaning time, it mainly depends on the degree of blockage; there is no fixed duration
In our factory, we have installed two sets of filters, with one set serving as a backup. It doesn’t specify a regular switch-over; it depends on the circumstances.
There are two filters as a backup; under proper operating conditions, one of them can operate for one cycle. As far as I know, they can run continuously for nearly three years at most. No need to clean it.
