They are the primary operators responsible for the manufacturing process. To be a competent DCS operator, one must first have a thorough understanding of the process flow and the principles behind production. One should also be familiar with the equipment involved in the upstream and downstream stages of the process, as well as the relationships between these elements. Additionally, it is necessary to be proficient in the principles and methods of instrument control within the process flow. It is best to have some experience in field operations, to be well aware of the location of various equipment, and to be able to give prompt instructions to the field operators in case of an emergency, so that they can shut off or turn on the manual valves on site or activate backup equipment, thereby preventing accidents.
The response on the second floor was very thorough; one should learn from experienced professionals, combine experience with knowledge, undergo more shutdowns and startup procedures as well as accident handling tasks, in order to develop good psychological resilience and professional qualities. As long as one works hard, it should not be a problem to become a competent operator in two or three years; but to reach an even higher level, a long period of continuous effort is required!
