For oil pipelines, should sampling points be installed to take samples regularly for analysis in the laboratory? For gas pipelines, it is possible to opt for continuous sampling for on-site analysis or regular sampling for laboratory analysis
I’m not familiar with oil pipelines; for gas pipelines, sampling ports are installed on the inlet pipes at the station, and these are connected to analysis booths where instruments such as gas chromatographs are used to analyze parameters such as component composition and calorific value. Today, analysis cabins are generally located within the process plant area.
I have worked at a natural gas transmission and distribution station; the sampling device was installed on the pipeline ahead of the outlet valve. It was connected to the pressure regulation device through a DN15 sampling pipe, and then via thin copper tubes to the sampling and analysis room, where instruments such as gas chromatographs were used to analyze parameters such as the composition of the natural gas and its calorific value. However, this is only a reference value; the actual gas chromatography analysis report is provided by the upstream stations or gas supply companies/enterprises (provided by gas chromatography analysis companies with **professional qualifications).
