The flue gas rapid cooling device features a rapid cooling cylinder with a high-temperature gas inlet at one end and a gas outlet at the other. At least two coiled tubes are arranged side by side within the first section of this cylinder; the tubes contain a cooling medium such as heat transfer oil or steam. Straight tubes are arranged side by side within the second section of the cylinder, with water serving as the cooling medium in these tubes. The high-temperature gas at temperatures above 850°C, during which dioxins are in a decomposed state, undergoes heat exchange with the cooling media in the coiled tubes and straight tubes inside the rapid cooling cylinder, thereby being cooled to below the temperature at which dioxins re-form within 1 second. The flue gas quenching method features a simple structure; it can effectively prevent the secondary formation of dioxins in the flue gases emitted from various incinerators, furnaces, etc., has low costs, and allows for the comprehensive utilization of thermal energy.
