For the main pressure-bearing components in medium and low-pressure water tube boilers, is it necessary for the bending radius of the tubes to comply with the JB1624 standard? In some cases, using elbow connections is not practical; I would like to use stamped elbows (that meet the requirements of GB/T12459 and come with a warranty certificate). I wonder which standard specifies that such elbows cannot be used. I once heard from an experienced colleague who worked on boiler design that it could be used, but after checking many sources, I couldn’t find any standard that specifies whether it can or cannot be used. Haven’t heard of it. Stamped elbows should work fine; all the nuclear power plant products produced by our factory that are of model 80S or higher use stamped elbows. If it can’t be used, there’s no way to create a elbow this thick. Using forgings is very expensive; using castings is not allowed. By the way, may I ask if powder metallurgy forming is possible?

Sure, I haven’t seen any standard stating that their use is not allowed. All the high-pressure boilers installed in our facility use stamped elbows

The main pressure-bearing components in water-tube boilers can use elbow fittings without straight sections, provided that the requirements specified in Article 54 of the Steam Boiler Regulations are met. Specifically, if tube surfaces and the steam and water pipes in the boiler utilize elbow fittings without straight sections, such fittings must comply with the requirements of GB12459. Moreover, the welds where these elbow fittings connect to the pipes must pass 100% radiographic inspection. No components should be welded at the curved parts of the tube surfaces where there are no straight sections.
