As a quality inspector in the machinery industry, I need to know how to inspect raw materials such as sheets, round bars, and profiles upon their arrival at the factory. The management wants to save costs, so chemical analysis is not allowed; inspection is mainly based on visual examination of the appearance, along with checking the specifications and dimensions. I would appreciate some guidance from those with experience
It depends on the intended use of the material and the requirements of the standards; one cannot simply follow what the managers say, otherwise problems will arise and you won’t be able to avoid taking responsibility.
After selecting a supplier, our company conducts an inspection once, and then carries out random checks thereafter; however, the visual appearance and quantity still need to be verified.
