The first question: once the installation has been built (or modified), purging and pressure testing are carried out on the containers and pipelines. When should water be used and when should steam be used? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Using water is called flushing, while using steam is called purging. They serve different purposes; for pipes through which fluids flow, air is generally used for purging, as using steam can cause thermal stress and lead to pipe deformation. Generally, steam pipelines are purged using steam, while for water flushing, we usually use water directly in the circulating water system.
