Sell at the lows, close positions at the highs. This is the most basic requirement for pipeline layout: to remove air from the system during operation, and to drain water from the system when it is shut down or during testing.
Generally, an exhaust valve (vent valve) is installed at the high point of longer pipelines, while a drain valve (sewerage valve) is installed at the low point; the former is used for purging and gas displacement, whereas the latter is used for removing waste materials and liquids.

Both material pipelines and utility pipelines must have high-point vents and low-point drains. Before driving, conduct a water pressure test and other checks; the water in the pipelines must be drained completely, via the lowest point. During parking for material removal and maintenance, the materials must be completely removed, and toxic substances must also be washed with water before maintenance can proceed. Venting, purging before operation, airtightness testing – these are all necessary.
