When the chimney height is 60 meters or less and there are no special requirements, no signal lights are installed in the middle section; generally, signal lights are only placed at the top. Therefore, a signal light platform should be installed about 5 meters below the top for the installation and maintenance of signal lights. The signal lights are mounted on the railing of the platform; the four lights are arranged at 90° to each other, or the three lights are arranged at 120° to each other. Two sets can be installed simultaneously, with one set as a backup. Additionally, within 30 to 50 meters below the barrel tip, the area is divided into sections of 5 meters each, which are painted in alternating red and white colors using aviation marker paint. The chimney is painted with red and white rings, so that even with a signal light installed only at the top, the entire chimney can be seen clearly from a distance. Reason: Red is the color that most stimulates the eyes, and white has the strongest contrast with black; therefore, red and white combined are naturally the most eye-catching at night.
