The liquid medium consists of dilute nitric acid (around 20–40%) and oxidizing agents. 304 stainless steel is used; among reinforced polyethylene, reinforced polypropylene, fiberglass, or rubber-lined steel, which material is the best choice? Considering the temperature effect, stainless steel should work.
Consult about the usage of media from manufacturers whose products are similar to yours. This will help you choose a material that is suitable for you. Reinforced polypropylene: Polypropylene is modified by adding reinforcing agents, stabilizers, and coupling agents, using polypropylene materials enhanced with glass fibers treated with coupling agents. It features high hardness, good rigidity, a high elastic modulus, and a low linear expansion coefficient. It also possesses excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and temperatures. PE-RT (heat-resistant enhanced polyethylene) is a type of polyolefin plastic; its density is similar to that of other thermoplastics. It is produced by Dow Chemical under the brand name DOWLEX2388, and it is formed through the copolymerization of ethylene and octene. Through molecular design during the polymerization process, the position of the copolymer units along the main chain as well as the density of the short side chains are controlled, thereby endowing this material with superior heat resistance, durable hydrostatic strength, and excellent impact resistance. It has strong high-temperature resistance (up to 110°C), good impact strength, good flexibility at low temperatures (up to -40°C), strong resistance to cracking at low temperatures, good creep resistance, is safe and hygienic, and is weldable – ensuring no leaks in the system and thus offering reliability. 304 stainless steel corresponds to the national standard 0Cr18Ni9. As a widely used type of steel, 304 stainless steel boasts good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, strength at low temperatures, and mechanical properties ; It has good hot workability for stamping, bending, etc., and shows no hardening due to heat treatment (non-magnetic, operating temperature: -196°C to 800°C)
304L ultra-low carbon stainless steel should be used, as there is already extensive experience with it
It also depends on the operating temperature; if the temperature is below 65 degrees, PVC reinforced with fiberglass can be used, while for temperatures below 110 degrees, PP reinforced with FRP can be utilized
If it is a corrosive medium, stainless steel should be used, such as 304, 316, etc
Check the temperature; if it’s 60 or below, fiberglass can be used, but if it’s higher, only steel lined with rubber can be employed
