Safety management and equipment management sometimes conflict, because in order to ensure production and engineering tasks, equipment must be operated even if it is faulty. This is a common thing in many companies. However, managers will keep saying that safety comes first and work should be carried out on the premise of ensuring safety. Safety first is originally a slogan, but it may be said this way because it is not the first priority in many cases.

Safety must be safe for production and production, safety first and prevention first. This is the principle we must adhere to. Modern safety management focuses on prevention, based on hazard identification, risk assessment, and prevention control, and uses safety legal countermeasures, safety management countermeasures, engineering technology countermeasures, and safety education countermeasures to ensure safe production. Equipment management is to improve the integrity rate of equipment through a series of means. From this perspective, there is no contradiction between the two. Taking engineering and technical countermeasures as an example, potential hazards should be eliminated first, that is, the hidden dangers of accidents should be eliminated essentially, such as using equipment with intrinsically safe performance. ； Secondly, reduce potential risk factors, that is, if the system danger cannot be eradicated, try to reduce the risk of the system as much as possible, such as installing safety valves, pressure relief valves, etc. on pressure-bearing equipment. ； Its three locking principles, such as safety transformers of stamping machinery, automatic security devices in circuits, etc. ； There are also protection principles, etc., then management countermeasures are adopted, such as formulating corresponding rules and regulations, and then safety education countermeasures are implemented. All of these serve to improve the effectiveness of device management.

When there are conflicts between safety and production, safety and equipment, safety and maintenance, etc., in theory, safety should give way, but in fact, in terms of their trade-offs, different companies have different scales at the decision-making level, and the results of the trade-offs are also different in different situations.

Safety cannot be absolutely the first priority, but safety can only be the first priority. The first thing an enterprise considers is income. Without income, the enterprise will not exist, and it will be useless. Everything is for the profit of the enterprise. This is an iron rule. Unless you are a charity. Many foreign companies also call safety first. Chinese people only see the slogan, but do not see the essence. After reading the text, they feel that they know it. After all the equipment is used, there are always some things that do not meet the safety requirements. At this time, conflicts arise. Equipment is important and is the foundation of production, but safety is more important and is the foundation of an enterprise.

Safety first, there is no efficiency without safety

Security management and equipment management are not contradictory, but the management methods are different, but the purpose is the same. The purpose of safety management is to enable enterprises to avoid accidents and achieve sustainable economic development ； The purpose of equipment management is to maximize the efficiency of the company's equipment and produce more products and benefits, which is also for the development of the company.

Safety is divided into two parts, one is personal safety and the other is equipment safety. Both are important, and sometimes poor equipment management can cause a lot of damage and the cost can be very high. Of course, personal safety is more important to some extent. In short, we must always adhere to the idea of ​​safety first and work hard to find ways to avoid conflicts between safety management and equipment management.
