In a vertical water-tube and fire-tube boiler with a single drum, is there a specified range for the specifications of the threaded smoke tubes? In regular designs, pipes with diameters of 57 to 89 are generally used. However, for thermal calculations, pipes with smaller diameters are required. I would like to ask whether pipes with diameters of 51 or 45 can be made into threaded pipes Threaded tobacco pipes do not accumulate dust. I would like to ask what the prerequisites for this are? If straw is burned as fuel, there is a lot of ash, and there may also be tar; in situations with high wind speeds, is it possible for small-diameter pipes to get blocked?
I did some research and consulted with some teachers; they said that for threaded flue pipes, a smoke velocity of 8 m/s is sufficient to prevent dust accumulation. We can design the system so that no dust accumulates even at partial load. Taking economic considerations into account, a smoke velocity of around 16–20 m/s is generally recommended.
While ensuring an appropriate smoke velocity, the diameter of the threaded smoke pipes can be kept small. However, in the boiler design documents I have reviewed, the smallest pipes used have a diameter of 51; no matter what type of fuel is used, there is a risk of blockages in such pipes, and this is something that cannot be avoided.
