Does anyone know the models of static mixers? And what is the viscosity range? We deal in nylon 66, with a viscosity of around 3700 poise. Thank you! I hope detailed information can be provided.
Due to the high viscosity, it operates in a laminar flow regime. I recommend using the SMX model, or the Kenics model. As far as I know, the pressure drop that can be tolerated is around 10 Bar; the SMX 3D model meets this requirement. If I’m not mistaken, Sulzer has a new device that can be used for man-made fiber production, one that reduces the pressure drop. You can check their website for more details – I believe such a device exists there. Kenics ones work too, but the installation distance is relatively long. No upgraded products have been released in recent years.

Regarding one of our mixer projects, the viscosity is 150,000 cp, the design pressure is 1 Mpa, and the pressure loss is 0.466 bar. The length of the mixer is 494 mm. The viscosity of your design is only 150 PaS, which is much lower than the 3700 of the original designer. . . The length-to-diameter ratio of Helics should be 1.5; you must have used 6 units. Have you dealt with 3700 high-viscosity fluids before? The pressure drop should be higher, right?
Hey, the guy upstairs: the viscosity is 150,000 cp, which is much higher than 3,700 cp. We don’t have a value for the aspect ratio alone. 12 units of mixed elements.
