In different companies, there are often issues with the mass balance of the solution in desulfurization systems. In our plant, solution expansion has occurred frequently during winter in recent years, and in severe cases, it has been necessary to discharge the solution. Based on calculations, with 90,000 units of transformed gas and a temperature difference of 15 degrees, the water volume required is approximately 80 to 100 cubic meters per month. We use plate-and-frame filters for sulfur melting, but the residual liquid resulting from this process is not recovered; its amount is also very small. The daily consumption of alkali is around 200 kilograms. What temperature do you keep your solution at? What is the standard for the amount of liquid to be prepared per day?
The temperature is maintained between 40 and 45 degrees; only chemicals are added to prepare the solution daily. If the liquid level is too low (in summer), water is added accordingly, and the alkalinity is kept at 0.55 mol/l. The dosage of chemicals is determined mainly based on foam formation and desulfurization efficiency, and it is generally carried out in accordance with the industry standards for nitrogen fertilizers. The daily regeneration works well, but it’s a bit difficult in winter as the solution swells significantly. I’m wondering if anyone has any good suggestions!

When the system liquid level is high, when preparing the solution, the system solution can be reused; no additional water should be added. Additionally, when heating the system, indirect steam should be used instead of direct steam whenever possible.
