Colleagues, I have a question for you. I’m currently working on a project related to the condensation of H2S and water vapor, and I’m having trouble deciding on the materials to use! May I ask everyone, what kind of materials should be used in environments like this where condensation occurs to produce H2S solutions? Thank you!
The relevant links regarding hydrogen sulfide corrosion are as follows: http://bbs.hcbbs.com/search.php?searchid=1865&orderby=lastpost&ascdesc=desc&searchsubmit=yes. You may take a look at them; I’m also looking forward to seeing the final answer from others
In the section titled \"Explanation on Material Selection for Pressure Vessels and Media\" that follows the capacity specifications, there are some requirements regarding material selection for H2S stress corrosion; you can refer to those. At present, the Southwest Design Institute has the most experience in H2S corrosion in China, and it relies mainly on experience when designing and selecting materials.
Basic requirements for steel resistant to H2S corrosion: (1) Reasonable composition design: The resistance of the material to H2S-induced stress fracture is primarily related to the strength of the material’s grain boundaries; therefore, alloying elements such as Cr, Mo, Nb, Ti, and Cu are often added to refine the grain size of the primary austenite. After quenching, the ultra-fine grained primary austenite gives rise to an ultra-fine grained ferrite structure along with well-distributed ultra-fine carbides, which represents the most effective approach for developing high-strength steels resistant to sulfide stress corrosion. ⑵Pure steel with very low levels of harmful elements (including hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, etc.) ; ⑶Good hardenability and a uniform, fine tempered structure, with minimal variation in hardness ; ⑷ Good tempering stability, high tempering temperature (>600°C) ; ⑸ Good resilience ; ⑹ Eliminate residual tensile stress.
Can the partial pressures of H2S and water vapor be determined? Calculate the dissolved concentration of H2S in the condensate, and then select the appropriate acid-resistant stainless steel.
There are 08Cr2AlMo steel pipes that are resistant to H2S corrosion.
