When arranging the material inlets and outlets of the storage tank, should these two pipe openings be kept as far apart as possible to avoid backflow and short circuits?

Yes, what are the safety hazards? Specific regulations don’t seem to have been mentioned either; in my opinion, it’s sufficient as long as there is space for inspection and maintenance – about 1 meter from the outer edge of the two pipes should be enough.
The spacing should meet the requirements for equipment installation and maintenance. The oil inlet pipe usually has a diffuser of a certain length. For aviation kerosene tanks, the spacing needs to be slightly larger due to the need to install floating storage devices. Additionally, sufficient spacing must be maintained between the drain pipe in the jet fuel tank and the oil outlet pipe; we encountered a situation where the spacing was insufficient when installing the floating oil outlet pipe.
