Is the production process of trichlorosilane a continuous reaction or a batch reaction, and what is the reaction time?
The synthesis of trichlorosilane is a continuous process, but it depends on the condition of the equipment; silicon powder can easily clog the pipes, requiring the process to be stopped for cleanup
In my company, the synthesis of trichlorosilane is carried out on a continuous basis; however, it is said that the pipes often get clogged, so the production process has to be stopped after operating for only a short time. (Note: We use a pressurized process.)
Our company still uses a pressurized process; if there is a blockage, and there is no bypass feeding or no timely handling, the operation will come to a stop. Even if it runs well, it can only be used for two months; that’s already considered the best case. Sometimes it has to be stopped for just a few days. Generally, adding 3-4 T of silicon powder at once requires more than ten hours for the reaction to complete
Without pressure, the synthesis process mainly involves slag removal and clog clearance; bag filters and water coolers are more prone to getting clogged. Considering adding a cyclone separator as well
Of course it’s a continuous reaction; foreign technologies enable continuous production that can run for up to a year, with effective dust removal.
