Dear sea friends, I have a piece of equipment here that requires a manhole to be replaced, but I’m not sure how to determine the required thickness for such a manhole. Can a steel plate with a thickness of 30 mm withstand a pressure of 0.78 MPa? Please provide the calculation method, thank you

For such thick steel plates, 7.8 MPa is sufficient!

If it is not a standard manhole, strength calculation is essential. It can be carried out using the strength calculation formulas specified in GB150; in other words, the manhole cylinder is treated as a device cylinder for calculation and stress verification, which is no different from ordinary strength calculations. However, I recommend using a standard manhole, as this facilitates maintenance, replacement, and the interchange of materials. With a standard manhole, there is no need to create drawings either.
