How is the end-to-end clearance of reciprocating piston rings calculated?
Empirical formula: For polytetrafluoroethylene piston ring, the working clearance A = 0.03D + 0.2; D: outer diameter of the piston ring in mm
1. For piston rings made of tetrafluoroethylene, the clearance between them is: (2.8–3.2)% of D, where D is the outer diameter of the piston. 2. For piston rings made of metal, the clearances are as follows: for cylinder diameters, the assembly clearance and the maximum allowable clearance should be ≤100 mm; 0.4 mm for 2.5 mm. For diameters between 100–150 mm, the clearance is 0.5 mm to 2.5–3.0 mm. For diameters between 150–200 mm, it is 0.8 mm to 3.5 mm. For diameters between 200–250 mm, it is 1.0 mm. For diameters between 250–300 mm, it is 1.2 mm to 4.5 mm. For diameters between 300–350 mm, it is 1.4 mm. For diameters between 350–400 mm, it is 1.6 mm. For diameters between 400–450 mm, it is 1.8 mm. For diameters between 450–500 mm, it is 2 mm. For diameters between 500–550 mm, it is 2.2 mm. For diameters between 550–600 mm, it is 2.4 mm. For diameters between 600–650 mm, it is 2.6 mm. For diameters between 650–700 mm, it is 2.8 mm. For diameters above 700 mm, it is 8.5 mm. Refer to SHS01020–2004 for more details
Thank you all! May I ask again, what is the difference in the clearance between the piston rings of imported reciprocating machines and those of domestic ones?
Every imported reciprocating compressor comes with a maintenance manual that contains standard data; if such a manual is not available, the SHS01020--2004 standard should be referred to
