What are everyone’s opinions on VMG, HYSYS, and UMISIM? Our organization has purchased all three of these software packages. I heard that HYSYS is no longer being updated – is that true? Which of these three software programs is the best to learn at present? Please share your suggestions. Thank you!
Following Honeywell’s acquisition of Aspentech’s OTS business, the HYSYS software is now divided into Unisim Design and Aspen HYSYS; each version is developed independently with no code sharing. The latest version of Aspen HYSYS is likely V7, and it is part of Aspen One. For beginners, UniSim and Aspen HYSYS are actually quite similar
It seems like the owner’s boss is engaging in some redundant construction.
Aspen HYSYS is constantly being updated, so there’s no need to worry about this issue with LZ
1) In fact, the basic usage of these three software programs is almost identical, as they were all developed by the same group of people. 2) HYSYS and Unisim are essentially the same software; Unisim came into existence due to monopolistic reasons. Additionally, because of intellectual property issues, development of HYSYS was halted for five years. After the intellectual property rights and source code for HYSYS were sold to Honeywell, it was required that all developments related to HYSYS be made available to Honeywell free of charge within those five years, which is why no one updated or developed new features for it. Relevant information can be found on the Internet. 3) The original developers of HYSYS, who numbered 16 in total, have now all left Companies A and H. 4) Company A’s R&D center is now located in Shanghai, China, so future products developed by Company A will be manufactured in China. 5) VMGSim is a newly developed, fully interactive process simulation software. Its standard platform is based on Windows XP, and its thermodynamic database uses NIST’s TRC (the Thermodynamics Research Center at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology). It has 20,000 independent components, along with 100,000 pairs of binary interaction parameters. The calculation results can be exported directly in Word and Excel formats. Due to its ease of use, flexibility, accuracy, and innovative design, many renowned international companies such as Exxon and Shell use this software. Of course, these companies were also users of HYSYS in the past... 6) It seems that the management of the poster’s company places great emphasis on technological development, and they have a deep understanding of process simulation technology! It seems quite interesting. As far as I know: 1) The development center for HYSYS was originally located in Canada; now that center has been disbanded, with only sales staff and a small number of related personnel remaining. 2) There are no original developers of HYSYS at Aspen Tech’s Houston office – only a few former employees of HypterTech, but they are not the core developers of HYSYS. This is because Honeywell acquired the intellectual property rights for HYSYS and brought in almost all of its original developers. This was a punitive measure imposed by the United States on Aspen Company. Unfortunately, those original HYSYS developers later left Honeywell one after another. 3) People can find relevant information online. 4) We often hear that A Company’s R&D center in Shanghai has worked on the development of many products, such as Aspen V7 and its integration. So why does someone upstairs say that the work done by A Company’s R&D center in Shanghai is merely auxiliary? Ahh, it really is interesting! 5) If A Company’s R&D center in Shanghai truly undertakes the core development work, there’s no need to be too modest – after all, this is a source of pride for China! The unit’s leadership is okay; mainly, the unit believes that having certain software will enhance its capabilities. But it seems like there’s some duplication in the purchases.
The original poster is very lucky to have such leaders! 1) Any software that stops developing or fails to keep up with the progress of the times will eventually be forgotten by history, just like WPS – it was once extremely popular, but now it has very few users. 2) It’s terrifying when a product has no competitors. 3) Newer versions of software, free from the burdens of history, can grow at an astonishing speed!
Does the original poster have the crack file for unisim390?
I have used both ASPEN and VMG; ASPEN is too large in size, while VMG is easy to use
