The medium being transported is formation water, with a high chloride ion content of tens of thousands of PPM. During transportation, leaks were detected multiple times at the flange gaps; it was later found that chlorine was causing corrosion of the metal wound gaskets between the flanges (stainless steel strips + graphite). What measures can be taken in this situation to reduce the risk of leaks? The pressure used for transportation is generally between 2 and 2.5 MPa. It is not possible to purify the water and reduce its chloride ion content, as doing so would require excessive costs due to the large volume of water to be processed.
This is typical chloride intergranular corrosion; replace the flange gasket. Such as non-metallic gaskets or gaskets resistant to chloride-induced intergranular corrosion.
Use PTFE gaskets~ Choose flanges with a convex surface
PTFE gaskets are a reasonable choice! ! !
A male-female flange combination is used, with non-metallic gaskets

Change the gasket material; ordinary asbestos gaskets will do, although it’s better to use PTFE gaskets if possible
It is best to wrap the metal gasket with tape. It would be best to add a layer of PTFE; chloride ions have no effect on rubber or PTFE
It is reasonable to use titanium for the flange material and polytetrafluoroethylene for the gasket.
