As a safety device for emergency first aid, eye wash stations are receiving increasing attention in China. The relevant domestic chemical engineering design standards do not specify how to select and design such stations. Below, I provide some information on my own experience in designing eye wash stations for your reference. 1. Principles regarding the installation site of eye wash stations: 1. First, consider the environmental factors related to the chemicals present at the site. a. Whether there are chemicals such as chloride ions (HCl, salt spray, etc.), fluoride ions (HF, etc.), sulfuric acid H2SO4, and oxalic acid with a concentration exceeding 50% present at the site. This is because the material used to manufacture eye washers is generally stainless steel 304, but stainless steel 304 cannot resist corrosion from the aforementioned four types of chemicals. So, which category of eye washer should be chosen? Answer: An eyewash station with ABS coating on the outside of stainless steel 304, or a high-performance corrosion-resistant eyewash station. b. Environmental temperature issues: The main concern related to environmental temperature is the risk of water inside the eyewash station freezing.
