Question: When a outer coil is installed around a large storage tank, and the process specifies a required heat exchange area, what principles are used to determine the length of the heat exchange tubes?
The outer coil is intended for spray cooling, so there is no issue with heat exchange area.
Now that the heat exchange area is known, the coil specifications should also be clear – isn’t the length quite simple to determine?
The question is, is the heat exchange efficiency 100%?
It’s impossible to be 100%; the heat exchange area is generally calculated based on the contact area between the outer coil and the cylinder body (including the welds).
The key issue is: under what heat exchange conditions were the heat exchange area values proposed by the process derived. It’s probably coils added at the bottom to prevent the material from crystallizing. So, should a insulation layer be applied to the coil section? Whether it is or not will affect the heat exchange area

The heat exchange efficiency of external coil tubes is very low; why not design them as semi-coils?
This is calculated by using the total heat loss of the container, then the heat transfer coefficient is determined based on the medium inside the heating coil, and finally the value is obtained~
It is recommended to make it in a semi-tube shape, as this can improve the heat exchange efficiency of the outer coil
