The backflow valve of the pneumatic compressor in our units often suffers from internal leakage, which directly affects the reaction pressure. I was wondering if such a problem occurs in your units as well, and how did you address it?
This is indeed a difficult issue; if there are no strict requirements regarding energy conservation, then a small amount of leakage isn’t a big problem. I have arranged the counter-rotation mechanism as four valves: three control valves and one at the air cooling section. Normally, the inlet valve of the valve assembly is stuck at a certain setting.
A small amount of leakage is beneficial; when the conveying line is not in use for an extended period, liquid can accumulate there, and this liquid will be carried into the machine’s inlet when the line is used again. If the leakage is severe enough to affect the inlet pressure, then action needs to be taken.
It’s difficult to detect minor internal leaks in the anti-backflow valve; how did you manage to find them? Moreover, internal leakage is different from external leakage; its impact on pressure should be relatively minor. If the leakage is severe, the reactor bed layer will be the most affected: heat cannot be removed, and the distribution of oil becomes uneven, which directly impacts the reaction efficiency and also poses safety risks that must be addressed.
The leakage of the anti-backflow valve hinders energy savings through the use of air compressors as well as the control of reaction pressure; the main reason for this is the large pressure difference between the inlet and outlet, which leads to frequent operation of the valve. Our approach is to divide the pilot valve into two valves: a large valve and a small valve. The large valve remains closed most of the time, with the small valve being used for adjustment. The small valve is kept slightly open at all times; when significant adjustments are needed, the large valve is used. Since the small valve is fully open, there is little pressure difference, allowing the large valve to open and close smoothly.
