Please discuss the relationship between the hardness and wear resistance of metal materials. Also, those who have data on the hardness of Hastelloy and stainless steel materials, could you share it? Thank you
Generally, the harder a material is, the more wear-resistant it is. However, there are also some materials that are soft yet highly wear-resistant; for example, certain bronze alloys are soft, but they exhibit good wear resistance when in contact with very hard steel.

Friction is a very complex issue; generally, the harder a material is, the more wear-resistant it is. However, there are also some materials that are soft in nature yet highly wear-resistant. Whether a material is wear-resistant or not depends on the friction pair involved. It is meaningless to discuss solely which materials are wear-resistant. For example, high-carbon steel is more wear-resistant than low-carbon steel, but when used in a friction pair with diamond, it becomes less wear-resistant.
