The flue expansion joint is leaking – are there any good solutions? . . Please ask an expert for advice! !

The expansion joint is leaking, probably because the components of such joints are made of stainless steel, and low-temperature sulfur corrosion can occur; therefore, insulation is necessary. If there’s a leak, consider sealing it depending on the situation; if that doesn’t work, cover it entirely.
I agree with the opinion from the third floor; fill it in first, and if that doesn’t work, then replace it. An outsider’s view: It’s because expansion joints are generally quite expensive. Could it be considered to add a corrosion-resistant inner sleeve inside the expansion joint – a flexible non-metallic material that meets the temperature requirements and allows for some degree of expansion/contraction – in order to reduce corrosion of the expansion joint?
Condensation acid must have been formed; the cause needs to be identified through process analysis, followed by leak repair. Stainless steel expansion joints are usually only 3 mm thick, which makes it difficult to repair leaks.
