How should the distance between fixed-roof storage tanks of Class A and B and the roads within the plant be determined? Should it be based on the range of 20–10 meters specified in Table 3.2.11 of the petrochemical standards? Should the distance between fire dikes and fire access roads be at least 5 meters? As for the distance between fire dikes and the main roads within the plant, is it sufficient to consider only the distance between the tanks and the roads, as well as the distance between the tanks and the dikes, without taking into account the distance between the fire dikes and the roads themselves? I hope experts can provide some clarification.

I would like to share my personal views; I hope everyone can point out any shortcomings: First of all, the “20–10 meters mentioned in Table 3.2.11 of the petrochemical standards” refers to the roads used for transporting raw materials and products, not to fire roads; The regulations in the Building Code regarding fire access roads state that \"the minimum distance between the fire lane and the stacks in the material storage area should be no less than 5.0 m.\" This includes two aspects: first, this road is a fire access road, not some other type of road; second, \"material storage area stacks\" refer not to the fire dikes in the tank storage areas as mentioned by the original poster – these are two distinct concepts. As far as I know, there doesn’t seem to be any current standards or regulations that set limits on the distance between the fire dikes or bunds in tank areas and roads. What is seen most often are the distance requirements between storage tanks and roads, as well as between storage tanks and other facilities.
The distance between Class A and B liquid storage tanks and roads shall be in accordance with the building codes: the fire protection distances between Class A, B, and C liquid storage tanks and railways as well as roads should not be less than those specified in Table 4.2.9. The codes for fire protection design in the petrochemical industry specify the distance between tanks and roads. The size of a tank farm is determined through consideration and calculation, generally based on the total leakage volume of the largest tank; this is what determines the size of the fire dike that needs to be constructed.
