In a room filled with 200 people, he asked, “Who wants this $20 bill?” Hands started going up. He said, “I’m going to give this $20 to one of you, but first, let me do this.” He then crumpled the $20 bill. He asked again, “Who still wants it?” Hands continued to go up. “Well,” he replied, “what if I do this?” He dropped the bill on the ground and started crushing it with his shoe. He picked it up again – now it was crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Hands were still raised. “My friends, you’ve all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to that bill, you still wanted it because its value didn’t decrease; it was still worth $20.” “Many times in life, we are ‘dropped’, crumpled, and crushed by the decisions we make and the circumstances we face. We feel as though we’re worthless; but no matter what happens or will happen, you will never lose your value.” “Whether dirty or clean, crumpled or neatly folded, you remain priceless to those who love you. No matter how much I damage this bill, you still want it, because its value doesn’t decrease. It’s still 20 dollars. ” 　　“In life, many times we are abandoned, ravaged, and even reduced to dust by the decisions we make ourselves and by the environment around us. We feel like we’re good for nothing. But no matter what has happened, or what will happen, you will never lose your value. ” 　　“Whether you are dirty or clean, wrinkled or suffering, you remain irreplaceable to those around you who love you. The value of our lives lies not in what we do or who we know, but in who we are. ” 　　 “You are unique – never forget that! ”
