In the book \"Polymer Chemistry\" edited by Pan Zuren, there are numerous problems related to kinetics; in particular, many of the questions in the fourth edition are difficult to solve. Is kinetics useful in actual production?

Are you referring to designing reactors using reaction kinetics? I’ve never been to a factory; aren’t all the reactors in a factory already designed? I mean, are it still a few people who work on reactor design, with most focusing on process control? I’m not quite sure; please advise.
Dynamics is one of the most important considerations in designing reactors. Simply put, whether a reaction can be completed in 1 second or in 1 hour represents two completely different kinetic behaviors; the huge difference in residence time leads to significant differences in the reactors as well. The above is a general discussion of chemical engineering issues. Specifically regarding the polymerization kinetics in polymer reactions, I personally feel that it is indeed less affected by the design of the reactor. Common polymerization reactors, whether batch, tubular, or gas-phase fluidized bed, are essentially similar to fully mixed reactors; important parameters related to kinetic behavior, such as residence time, are mostly controlled by process parameters.

Knowledge of kinetics is very important, especially for designing reaction vessels. But for you personally, it’s never a bad idea to learn more. Although the probability of using it in the future is very low.
