Therefore, an air conditioner with a heating capacity of 2600 W consumes 2600 W of electricity in winter, which is three times the amount of electricity it uses in summer. In heating mode, heat pump-assisted electric heating air conditioners use both electric heating and heat pump assistance for heating. It has a high heating efficiency, with power consumption falling between that of pump-type and electric-heating types. Therefore, when choosing between air conditioners that provide heating and cooling, users must take into account the power consumption during winter. For the purpose of saving electricity, it is advisable to opt for heat pump units that can provide both heating and cooling; however, it should be noted that there are two types of heat pump air conditioners ; One type does not have an automatic de-icing (defrosting) function and can only be used when the temperature is above 5°C, while the other type has an automatic de-icing (defrosting) function and can be used in temperatures above -5°C. Electric heating air conditioners rely on electric heaters to generate heat in heating mode. According to the law of conservation of energy, 1 kW of electrical energy can only be converted into 1 kW of heat energy; no additional heat can be produced. In the case of heat pump air conditioners, if the coefficient of performance is 3, then 1 kW of electrical power input can generate 3 kW of heat. Therefore, under the same heating capacity, electric air conditioners consume more electricity. Users should note that if they purchase an electric heating air conditioner, the electricity consumption estimate should be based on the data from heating mode, rather than that from cooling mode; otherwise, the estimate will be too low.
