My two thoughts on forum management

I’ve been a moderator on Haichuan for quite some time now; from being a newcomer at first to where I am today, I realize that it hasn’t been easy either for me or for the forum. So today, I’d like to share a few complaints or suggestions. (1) Regarding the construction of the forum. I often see on my own posts or those of others people asking for each other’s email addresses or QQ accounts in order to get information. In my personal opinion, if it already exists on a forum, why not earn money by actively participating in that forum? Moreover, the Forum Wealth Center not only provides daily red envelopes but also holds various activities from time to time. I believe that by persisting for a week and posting around one post per day, it will be easy to earn enough wealth to download the required materials Of course, if there is material that is not suitable or convenient to share on the forum, it is also possible to contact via email. I just think that if everyone comes here with the sole intention of taking something, then the future of this forum is concerning. (2) Regarding the issue of professional title evaluation. Because the section I am in charge of is a forum for exchanging information on registered engineers and similar topics. Therefore, many enthusiastic forum members often come here to ask questions about professional title evaluation. Regarding this, I have already posted a separate thread in the section I’m in charge of, stating that such questions should not be asked again. Since the situations in different places and organizations vary greatly, it’s impossible to cover everything. Moreover, if a member who is not aware of the full situation misguides those who are in urgent need of such information, it would be a real loss. Actually, isn’t evaluating professional titles just based on requirements such as educational background, foreign language proficiency for professional purposes, years of experience, papers, or computer-related tests? In my opinion, this issue can be resolved by consulting the local human resources department or the person in one’s own workplace who is in charge of such matters. There’s no need to keep posting here with the same questions over and over again; doing so not only wastes the valuable server resources of the forum but also doesn’t help other users much. These are my two recent thoughts on forum management; I welcome all moderators and enthusiastic forum members to discuss them together.
What the original poster said makes sense. The first point mentions the practice of exchanging email addresses or QQ IDs in order to obtain information, and this phenomenon does indeed exist; everyone should be encouraged to participate actively in it
The phenomenon related to the first point exists in that forum as well. Although most people on HaiChuan come there to learn and share, when there are many users, it’s inevitable that some will be there merely to download materials. I think we can address this issue from two perspectives: 1) Encourage everyone to speak up, so that newcomers who are not yet familiar with the forum’s rules can quickly understand that it’s easy to download materials from the forum (this can be communicated through messages). There’s no need to accumulate points just to download materials; people should realize that downloading materials is the simplest task, while the quality of one’s contributions is what truly matters in assessing them. 2. That is, a rule should be established: anyone who includes their QQ number or email address in their replies will be punished or have their account blocked. Communication is allowed privately, but such information cannot appear in posts, in order to prevent the practice of including QQ numbers. Regarding the second issue, there’s no good solution. Everyone who comes here does so to ask questions, and their level of initiative isn’t very high; they basically never search first before asking questions. I guess the moderators have to put in extra effort. Also, if a question turns out to be highly repetitive and of little value, a warning can be given. No forum is free from repetitive posts, so we should try to minimize them as much as possible
It embraces all! Treating everyone fairly and giving people opportunities – that is HaiChuan’s style. But it will not tolerate those who cause harm to the group; that is HaiChuan’s ethos. Those famous and unknown individuals will help us; they are the soul of HaiChuan!
