The color of the crude benzene in our plant suddenly turned black… At that time, the cause was attributed to a leak in the oil-gas heat exchanger… Later on, some experienced workers working with crude benzene raised many objections… What do you think are the reasons behind the darkening of the crude benzene? What issues can cause crude benzene to turn black in color?
There are two possibilities: either the oil line of the condenser or the reducer is leaking. The second is flooding of the benzene removal tower, causing the washed oil to come out from the top. Distillable products to identify the washing oil substances.
We have also encountered this problem before. In addition to the reasons mentioned above, we took into account the possibility of oxidation of crude benzene due to its long period of not being sold; this phenomenon usually occurs at the bottom of the tank. Another reason could be rusting inside the tank.
I’ve encountered this issue; it was caused by a leak in the oil-gas heat exchanger, and things returned to normal after replacing the heat exchanger! !
Take a few more samples and take a look to see where the problem likely lies
First, there is a leakage in the crude benzene condenser; second, the benzene removal tower is flooded; third, the air intake to the regenerator is too high, or the steam flow rate into the benzene removal tower is excessive!
May I ask what causes the discoloration of crude benzene: excessive air intake in the third regenerator on the sixth floor, as well as too high a flow rate of direct steam?
It turned black, probably because the oil was mixed into crude benzene. The explanations on the 2nd and 3rd floors were quite thorough; there’s no issue with the operation procedures, it depends on the equipment instead.
If it discolors in the groove, it’s likely due to rust contamination
