Hey everyone, does anyone have pictures of a target flow meter or know much about it? Could you explain how a target flow meter works? Thank you very much
Features of target flow meters: Capable of measuring the flow rate of fluids with high viscosity and suspended particles. It has a simple structure and is easy to install; compared to orifice plates, it requires fewer isolators, pressure guiding tubes, and instrument heating, resulting in less maintenance needed for the instruments. Low pressure loss, with high sensitivity and accuracy. The drawback is the zero-return check, which requires shutting off the flow, hence a bypass line needs to be installed.
The target flow meter employs a structure different from that of traditional flow meters. As the fluid flows, the flowing particles strike the target, and the force exerted on the target is transmitted to the target rod, causing it to undergo a slight displacement. This force is then transferred via a stainless steel rod to the pressure-sensitive resistor strain gauges; these strain gauges convert the force into an electrical signal that is proportional to the square of the flow velocity. The formula is as follows: F = QA√(V²/2g), where F represents the force acting on the target plate, Q is the damping coefficient, A is the area of the target plate, ρ is the density of the fluid, and √(V²/2g) represents the characteristic flow velocity
