An interesting experience of an MM interviewing at Huawei: Success is not far away. During my senior year, Huawei came to our university to hold a recruitment event. Most of the students were very excited, as Huawei has always held a high reputation among college graduates looking for jobs — thanks to its growth-oriented industry, excellent corporate culture, training programs for new employees, and favorable benefits. These are all great temptations for a student who is just starting their career. Of course, for me, the only part that interests me is Huawei’s sales department, because I like working in sales. 　　You can go now; you’re not the right fit. The interviews take place in a large auditorium, where dozens of students are divided into groups of four, with one interviewer for each group. The interview process is quite \"cruel\" – if you don’t catch the interviewer’s approval or fail to answer their questions, they will say you can go, which means you’re eliminated on the spot. 　　That day, I was in a group with three other guys. As soon as I stepped in front of the interviewer and before I could sit down, the interviewer gave me just a quick glance and then said coldly, “You can go; I don’t think you’re the right fit.” I was shocked, and to be honest, it was very embarrassing for me. But I didn’t leave. I said nothing, yet my heart was filled with resentment: You don’t even know me; why do you think I’m not suitable just after taking one look at me? Why do you want me to go? However, I didn’t say anything at the time, because I felt that confronting the interviewer in person would be impolite and show a lack of grace on my part. I think it’s not too late to argue with the interviewer after the interview is over. 　　What is your proudest achievement? The other three boys sat down; I didn’t care what they were thinking, so I sat down as well. The interviewer didn’t actually kick me out; instead, he acted as if I didn’t exist and began asking one of the guys, “What is something you’re most proud of?” Perhaps due to nervousness, that guy didn’t know how to answer. He stammered that he didn’t have a job yet and hadn’t achieved anything special, so he had nothing to be proud of. I was very anxious; I felt his answer was a bit off-topic, and I certainly didn’t want him to get eliminated at the first hurdle. So I quietly reminded him from the side, \"You can talk about something you did at school that you’re most satisfied with…\" The interviewer glanced at me, and I didn’t think much of it: You’re not going to accuse me of cheating, are you? It’s time to help people in such situations. Anyway, I’m already the “unsuitable person” —— I guess this is what they mean by “strength comes from having no desires.” 　　Why help your competitors? However, the situation that followed was not optimistic at all – three boys were eliminated one after another, and in the end I was the only one left at the table. The interviewer hasn’t even started talking to me yet. However, it seems that the interviewer has something to say now. I’ll remain calm and unassuming. Finally, the interviewer spoke up: “Those three people are probably your competitors, but I saw you helping them the whole time. Why do you want to help them? Isn’t it better for you if they can’t answer the questions? If they’re all eliminated, won’t that give you a chance?” I replied, “I don’t consider them my competitors. If they all pass the interview, we might end up as colleagues in the future, and it’s only natural to help each other out when faced with difficulties.” ” 　　If I’m letting you go, why don’t you leave? In response to my answer, the interviewer didn’t give a clear reply; instead, they brought up the previous topic again: “I already told you just now that you’re not suitable; you can go now.” “But why don’t you leave?” The opportunity has come; it’s my turn to speak. My \"dissatisfaction\" finally got a chance to be expressed: \"I think you don’t understand me, so I’m going to stay here to give you a chance to get to know me.\" Firstly, I have great admiration for Huawei, as I am attracted by its corporate culture and approach to hiring. That’s why I submitted my resume earnestly, and I am very happy to be participating in this interview. But I never imagined that I would suffer such a devastating blow. Second, I also want to say that I think your attitude is very unfriendly toward an interviewee. Because today I am the interviewer, but tomorrow I might become one of your employees; more likely, I will be a potential customer for Huawei. But your unfriendly attitude today left a deep impression on me. I might not become your employee today, but tomorrow I might no longer want to be a customer of Huawei. Third, your unfriendliness has affected my opinion of Huawei today, and it might also influence the opinions of all my friends regarding Huawei tomorrow. You know, you might have driven away quite a few of your potential customers! That’s one question; you’ve passed the interview. The interviewer smiled, very satisfied with my performance. Because from the very beginning, the interviewer had already posed me an interview question: how to deal with setbacks. You should know that what is being hired this time are salespeople, and in their future work they will face endless rejections and dismissive attitudes; people’s behavior might be several times worse than that of this interviewer. If he can’t even handle a politely cold expression during an interview, how will he be able to face future challenges? Additionally, the interviewer appreciated my willingness to help others during the interview, which clearly demonstrates my teamwork spirit. 　　Only then did I realize it, agreed with the interviewer’s attitude, and was happy that I had passed the interview successfully. However, in the end I rejected Huawei’s offer. 　　I love sales; I don’t like being a secretary. After another 3 rounds of interviews, I finally got to meet the department head. He said he was very satisfied with my performance, but he thought I wasn’t suitable as a salesperson, as the products they sell are communication devices, and salespeople often need to climb around and work outdoors – a job that’s really not suitable for a pretty girl. So I really hope I can become his technical secretary. He hopes I won’t reject it right away and will think about it for a few days. 　　A few days later, I still rejected Huawei’s offer. I know I’m too independent and like to make my own decisions about everything. With my personality, I probably won’t make a good secretary. In the end, I still missed out on my favorite company, Huawei. 　　In fact, sometimes by sticking to our own opinions, holding fast to our beliefs, understanding what we want and working hard for it, success is not far away from us!
