Is it better to place the static mixer closer to the pump outlet or further away from it?
A static mixer is an efficient mixing device without moving parts. Its basic working principle involves using mixing elements fixed within the tube to alter the flow pattern of the fluid inside the tube, thereby achieving good dispersion and thorough mixing of different fluids. By definition, it can be understood that it is installed closer to the pump outlet, where the flow velocity is high and mixing is thorough.
If it is a heterogeneous mixture, then the mixer should be placed close to the equipment that requires mixing, in order to prevent stratification of the mixture after mixing!
It should not be placed too close to the pump; generally, a buffer tank or similar device is used after mixing to ensure uniform mixing
